Frédérique Constant Classics Carrée Denim: Rectangular Watch with a Denim Look
Frédérique Constant brings the essence of denim to the Classics Carrée collection. Two rectangular quartz watches feature a blue satin-finished dial paired with a denim strap and are available in different case sizes. The design concept remains deliberately simple: the material, which has straddled the line between workwear and fashion for generations, serves as the connecting element between the dial and the strap.
Rectangular shape, diagonal cut
The Classics Carrée features a slim, gently curved case shape. Frédérique Constant offers the denim version in 36 × 25.2 millimeters and in a more compact version measuring 30 × 21 millimeters. Both cases are made of polished stainless steel and remain exceptionally slim, with thicknesses of 5.85 and 5.80 millimeters, respectively.
The blue dial features a diagonal satin finish that produces different shades of blue depending on how the light hits it. Two silver-colored hands indicate the hours and minutes. The design omits a seconds hand and a date display, keeping the rectangular face clean and uncluttered.
Denim Becomes Part of the Watch
The strap is actually made of denim and features white contrast stitching. With this design, Frédérique Constant not only uses denim as a color accent but also makes the material a functional part of the watch. A quick-change system makes it easy to swap straps, and the watch fastens with a classic pin buckle.
The design plays on the contrast between the classic Art Deco-inspired case shape and a fabric that was originally associated with rugged workwear. It is precisely this contrast that gives the two models their distinctive character: While the watch itself remains understated in design, the strap and bold color scheme make it appear significantly more casual than many rectangular dress watches.
Quartz movement with a six-year battery life
Both models are powered by the FC-200 quartz movement with four jewels. The specified battery life is 72 months. A domed, anti-reflective sapphire crystal protects the dial; the solid, screw-down case back is engraved. The watch is water-resistant to three bar.
The larger FC-200LB2C6 model costs 895 euros, while the smaller FC-200LB1C6 costs 795 euros. Technically, the two watches differ primarily in their dimensions. The choice therefore comes down mainly to how prominent you want the watch to look on your wrist.
