Angelus Chronograph Tachymeter: Monopusher in a 37-millimeter case

Angelus continues its historically inspired chronograph line with the Chronographe Tachymètre. Three models feature a compact 37-millimeter case with a monopusher mechanism, a tachymeter scale, and the hand-wound A5000 caliber.

Tachymeter for measuring speed

The Chronographe Tachymètre draws design inspiration from Angelus chronographs from the 1930s to the 1950s. Its scale is calibrated for a measurement distance of 1,000 meters or one mile: The central chronograph hand is started at the first reference point and stopped after the distance has been covered. The average speed can then be read directly on the bezel. The scale starts at 500 km/h, underscoring its connection to motorsports.

The chronograph is operated via a single pusher integrated into the crown. A 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and the small seconds sub-dial define the grained dial. Both sub-dials are azure-finished and stand out from the center thanks to their concentric surface treatment.

Three versions in steel and yellow gold

With a diameter of 37 millimeters and a height of 9.25 millimeters, the Chronographe Tachymètre is currently the most compact model in the Angelus collections. Its curved sides and gently sloping lugs echo the design language of the La-Fabrique line.

The yellow gold version features a gold-colored dial with accents in English green. For the steel models, you can choose between coral pink with steel gray and pearl gray with petrol blue. Black hour markers and Arabic numerals characterize the steel watches; on the gold version, the hour markers are color-matched to the case.

Inside, the 4.20-millimeter-high hand-wound A5000 caliber powers the watch. It drives the chronograph via a column wheel and a horizontal clutch and operates at a frequency of three hertz. Gold-colored bridges and plates contrast with a rhodium-plated chronograph mechanism; the beveling and straight-graining are inspired by the classic finishing of historic chronograph movements.

This new model follows the Chronographe Télémètre, introduced in 2025, which won the Chronograph Prize at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève. Angelus is now shifting its focus from distance measurement to speed, while retaining the small case and traditional movement architecture.
